1. United Nations Organisation


The headquaters of the united nations organisation (Uno) is at new york.
The uno came into existence on october 24,1945 and 51 nations joined it at that time.
The security council is a major executive organ of the UN. It consist of 15 member countries. Each of which has one representative and one vote. There are five permanent member countries of the security council. They are united states, britain. China, France and Russia.


The flag of the UNO has a white UN emblem (two bent olive branches open at the top and between them is the world map) on a light blue background.

The official languages of the UNO are: English, French, Chinese, Russion, Arabic and Spanish, Although working languages are English and French only.
   

The Aims of the United Nations :


1.To maintain peace and security in the world.
2.To develop friendly relations among nations.
3.To work together to remove poverty, disease and illiteracy and to encourage respect for each others rights and liberties in the world.

On 10th December 1948. the UN proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in which are enunciated the basic principles outlining the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world and recognising the dignity and equality of the individuals and nations.

Qualifications to become a member of the United Nations :


1.The country must be peace-loving, be willing to accept the aims and objectives and rules of the UN charter.

2.its membership must be recommended  by the security Council by two-third majority vote in the UN General Assembly.
