Working with Documents



1. Entering Text :
The blinking insertion point (cursor) In the document indicates where the text we type will appear on the screen. Type the text in the document. Press Enter key, when we want to start new paragraph. Word underlines misspelled words in red and grammar mistakes in green, the red and green underlines will not appear in printing the document. Word automatically corrects common typing mistakes that we type, such as and(adn) and nwe(new).

2. Saving Document :
Until we save, the document can not be saved as a file on a disk, the document exists only in the computer's memory and disappears if the computer is turned off.
To save the document, do the following :
i. Click the Save button on the Standard Toolbar or choose the Save or Save As option from the File menu. The Save As dialog box appears as shown fig.
ii. Type the name of the file in the File name text box.
iii. Select the appropriate disk drive and folder in the Save in list box.
iv. Click the Save button.

3. Previewing a Document :
Click the Print Preview button on the Standard Tool bar or choose the Print Preview option from File menu to display the Print Preview means it shows the document exactly what is prints.

4. Opening a Document :
To open an existing document, do the following.
i. Click on the Open button on the Standard Toolbar or choose the Open option from the File menu. The Open dialog box appears as shown fig.
ii. Select the appropriate disk drive and folder where your file exists in the Look in: list box
iii. Type the name of the file or click on the file name from the list, which we want to Open in the File name text box.
iv. Click the Open button. Now the specified file is opened.

5. Closing a Document :
Click the document Close button at the right upper corner on the menu bar or choose Close option form the File menu, the current document is closed.
